"Trumpeter Keith Hounslow has long been
one of the most valued soloists in Australian Jazz, respected for his
quiet distinctive gift for finding his own melodic path through all
manner of material in contemporary, mainstream and traditional settings."
Adrian Jackson: Director of the Melbourne
& Wangaratta Jazz Festivals.

"This project represents a unique approach to autobiography and
to the illustration of it in its CD format. As a social document, it's
also invaluable in its charting of the history over five decades of
a particular segment of the Arts community and of the development of
Australian Jazz in the period from the second world war".
Ray Marginson - Victorian Jazz Archives.

"I can think of very few musicians who are
central or more important to the evolution of Australian Jazz than Keith.
He has been centrally involved in a number of crucial events in Australian
Jazz and, like the late John Sangster of whom Keith was a contemporary,
his career has been an odyssey through the various stylistic movements
that characterise Australian Jazz."
Eric Myers: NSW National Jazz Co-ordinator.

"It came as no surprise to me that Keith
would choose to create his memoirs in the form of spoken work on CD.
He is a great communicator, a wonderful lyrical and natural musician,
and I can only imagine his recording of 'HIS' Jazz Life will be of lasting
value, both in its own right and as something of vital archival interest."
Paul Grabowsky: Leader Australian Art Orchestra.

"I have known Keith since 1944 and have
performed with him often over the last 40 years. Keith is without doubt
a major contributor to the development of Australian Jazz. In preparing
his CD project 'My Jazz Life', he has well recounted a career full of
interesting and informative details and because of its intensely personal
nature, will contribute enormously to the history of improvised music
in Australia."
Brian Brown: Musician and Lecturer.

"...An unfailing sense of Dynamics... full,
round and extravagant notes, played with the drama of one who knows!
This guy simply sounds great!"
Cadence Magazine: USA 1987

"Keith joined the Melbourne jazz fraternity
in 1947 and, as a promising trumpet player, was invited by me to take
up a position as band boy on the Rex Stewart tour we undertook in 1949.
He soon found himself on-stage for part of the performance, virtually
becoming Rex's protégé, learning the special mute work
for which Rex was famous. This served him well during his 40 year contribution
to the Melbourne Jazz Scene. Keith's 'My Jazz Life', which he wrote
and produced is completely individual and original and breaks new ground
as a musical autobiography on compact disk."
Graeme Bell: Australian Jazz Icon.
